All Is For Your Glory - Chords, in process

Update: August 4, 2012

Here's the most recent edition.  We sang this in our local church gathering last week...so, it's been proven to work.  Enjoy.  I've included the bass walk in the verses.  If you have that low - B string...it brings that extra emphasis in the end...

Chorus:
D/B                  D/A
All is for Your glo-ry
D/B                  D/A
All is for Your na-ame
D/B                  D/A
All is for Your glo-ry
D/B
That in all things
                                  D/A
You would have the first place
              D/B
That in all things
                                  D/A
You would have preeminence

D (hold)

Verse:
                     G                                                 D
There's just one chief end to man's purpose
                     G                                           D
There's one main reason for existence
                     G                               D
All man's vain and high ambitions
         Em                   G               Bm   (bass walk line: E - F# - E - D - B - D - B B)
Will one day be brought low
          Em                   G              D   (bass walk line: E - F# - E - D - B - D - D D)
Will one day be brought low

To treasure You above all others
To Love You like we love no other
Your greatness will be uncovered
and all the earth will then know
and all the earth will then know

Pre-Chorus:
Em                            D/F#          A
For You alone will be exalted in that day
        Em                                D/F#
And worthless goals will be exposed
       A
as idols that we've made
      Em                   D/F#             A
For You alone will be exalted in that day
        Em                         D/F#
and you'll be seen as rightful king
           G                                 A      (D)    (into Chorus 2nd time: D/B  /C#  /C#)
and from our hearts we'll say:

Bridge:
Bm
Put me anywhere
                  A
Put Your glory in me
      G
I'll serve anywhere
                                          A
Just let me see Your beauty

Tag:

So catch me up, in your story
            D/A
All my life, for Your glory!

Tag 2:
                     D/B  (low octave B)
My God, My Joy!
         D/A
My delight!

Update: June 6, 2012

I've updated some of the chords that I've been able to figure out.  I have not played this with a team yet.  Next step: figure out the little run ("one day be-ee brought low...") in the verse.

Also, I found a studio version that I purchased on iTunes if you're interested.  The recording isn't great, but I know that it probably supports the woman who wrote it, Lisa Gottshall, so I was glad to bless her with a few pennies for writing a great song...maybe I should support her a little more...hmmm....

Hi Webbies,

Here's a song that many have heard from this past OneThing, 2011.  Written by a woman on Justin Rizzo's team, there's a great version of it from OneThing by Cory Asbury and team.  Such a great message here - even if you're not looking for chords, read these lyrics.  They'll rock you.  Listen to the song via YouTube and I think you'll be even more messed up.

Again, these are in-process.  I'm making more time for this soon.  Add comments with chords you figure out via the video.

Side note: Transposing songs has been great for growth in me musically.  Even if you're just trying to learn a few chords for guitar to worship at home, training your ear to recognize chords by listening to songs and figuring them out can be one of the best things for your musical abilities.  Go for it.  Don't just leave this stuff to me...

Also, this is a good song for bassists and guitarists who are learning the "/" inversion chords and getting the feel/sound for that.

  3. I do like the sound of the G and D/F# in the chorus; the one thing I like to hear when playing this is G/B (adding the /B just from the bass guitar, possibly) - so, next time our group plays it, we'll give it a try! Cheers.
