You Missed This One III: Easter Edition

I know this is typically a music blog, and a lot of the 'missed this ones' should probably follow suit. I couldn't avoid this one, which popped out to me while in discussion with High Schoolers last night in Matthew 26-28.

Behold, chapter 27. You missed this one:

51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. 52 The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus’ resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

The bible is a funny book sometimes.  Not funny to laugh at...just amazing how among a few chapters about Jesus' death, this sentence is just added in there.  Just two sentences.

Seriously, if people were coming out of the tombs, I think that there would be more than a couple sentences in our daily paper.

But, that's just it.  Two sentences is enough for the bible.  No need to elaborate.

"The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life."

  1. "51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split."

This verse alone signifies what Jesus has done as far as our relationship to the Father ...

btw, thanks for the inspiration. Ever since I read your "missed posts", I've been more deliberate in reading/studying the Bible! Thanks again brother. And don't feel sorry for talking more about this than music :)

  2. Hey Bro - that's awesome to hear. And thanks for the encouragement. I love the symbolism in the torn curtain as well. (I think of that scene of the passion where the high priest shows up and he's got that "oh, ----" look on his face)

Have a great resurrection celebration this weekend.
