The Call

Hey Friends,

Sarah and I just returned from the Call, Nashville. I am posting pictures on our Picasa page.

14 hours, 100,000-some people in Titan Stadium. A prayer walk down Church Street. Repentance was a major theme of the day...and this time. I (David) was deeply impacted by many of the people repenting that day for certain groups who had performed injustices based on the rebellion we inherited through the fall. Repentance is the first step towards living as God intended us to live. It is the first Call. We then move...as in war. This is not a game, brothers and sisters.

War cries. Spiritual intercession. Praise to God for his work. Prayers to end abortion and for a spirit of adoption to come over the church. Horton Hears a Who. Horton Hatches the Egg.

God is calling people closer to His heart. The Call was a definite witness to that. I believe that we are heading into a time of extremes...more stadium Christianity, more passionate followers of God, less luke-warm.

There will be more Call events, including a Call DC in 2008 (I posted 2010 on myspace...oops). They are preparing for one million people to attend. Pray about attending. God may want you there.

    I was hugely impacted by the events of the Call. I did not mention how touching the repentance was to my heart...and how much it made me realize that repentance is the beginning to my continuous walk with God.

UDPATE 1/21 OK - well, out of more responsibility  I had to figure out a legal  way to put mp3's on my son's simple mp3 player he got for Christmas this year (it's a $30 one from amazon...) Advertised as a kid-friendly player, I knew the features included a 'drag and drop' feature for mp3's.   Now that Apple has gone the way of 'music' the instructions below (original post!) are basically ancient history, but I'll leave them here for anyone who might want to refer to them. New instructions for 'freeing your freegal' music are as follows. First, I am assuming that you are using an app on a mobile device to 'download' the music to that device. 1. download music (3-7 songs a week for most folks on Freegal) to your mobile device. 2. connect your mobile device to a real computer  (sits on a desk or your lap, you know). 3. open up Finder or Open Device (depends on your platform) 4. find "Files" (on iPhone) 5. find the Freegal app

A great guitar teacher told me that the best way to improve "play by ear" (or ear training) was to transcribe songs.  So, that is what I've been practicing.   When I find a song I like that isn't really out there on the interwebs, I like to share my work in transcribing.
